1.3 chair by Kihyun Kim
The 1.3 chair recently won Furniture Design of the Year at the London Design Museum’s Design of the Year awards.
The chair is part of the 1.3 collection, which also features a stool and a bar stool. The collection is designed by Kihyun Kim, a graduate of the Royal College of Art. Kim was born in South Korea, and since graduating in 2011 has specialized in industrial design, including furniture, electronic products and living accessories. He continuously explores and embraces new materials and technology to create simple, elegant products reminiscent of classic designs.
Produced using CNC milling, the finely formed 1.3 collection would be equally at home in a rustic or modern setting and has a visual softness. Originally created in balsa wood, the collection is now available in American walnut, ash and oak through Insitu in Australia.
The collection was presented by Zeitraum for the first time at the 2012 Milan Furniture Fair.
