Micro and macro thinking wins the 2012 BIA with a mixing tap that improves heat control and a combined bath / basin that streamlines room design.

The 2012 Reece Bathroom Innovation Awards (BIA) were announced at Saturday in Design, 18-19 August. Gavin Harris won the professional category for Shiro – a skilfully resolved freestanding bath and hand basin unti with built-in seating and storage. ShanShan Wang won the student category for Koeda Intuitive Mixer Tap, a sinuous glazed porcelain basin mixer that more precisely controls the flow and temperature of water with a gently rotating dial instead of a lever, and an aerated angled spout designed to minimize excess splashing.

The Awards were judged by David Clark (Vogue Living), Shayanna Blaze (Blank Canvas Interiors), Antonio Bullo (Industrial designer) and Justin Wagemakers (Blue Sky Design). More here.
