Shortlist revealed: 2016 Houses Awards

The Houses Awards celebrates Australia’s best residential projects in nine categories. Now in its sixth year, the program has become one of the country’s most sought-after accolades, with 427 entries submitted in 2016 – an increase of 30% from the previous year.

This year, a total of 152 projects and 11 emerging practices have been shortlisted. “From tiny apartments and updated mid-century homes to beachside retreats and luscious gardens, this year’s Houses Awards shortlist uncovers Australia’s diverse ways of being at home,” said Katelin Butler, editor of Houses magazine and Houses Awards jury chair.

The awards will be presented in Sydney at Doltone House, Hyde Park on Friday 22 July, following the 2016 Housing Futures Conference. Each category winner will receive a $1,000 prize. The awards will culminate in the announcement of Australian House of the Year, the winner of which stands to take home $5,000.
