Speakers have been announced for the ArchitectureAP Symposium, which will be held in Brisbane on Friday 4 March as part of the 2016 Asia Pacific Architecture Forum, exploring architecture, design and urbanism from the region.
The one-day symposium will bring architects, designers, clients and collaborators together to explore the innovative thinking and transformative projects creating new world cities for the emerging Asian century.
Speakers at the event will include:
- Andrew Patterson, director of Patterson Associates (New Zealand)
- Fumi Kashimura and Ikko Kobayashi, co-founders of Terrain Architects (Japan)
- Serina Hijjas, director of Hijjas Kasturi Associates (Malaysia)
- Kenneth Yeh and Carolina Marra from Marra + Yeh Architects (Australia and Malaysia)
- Richard Hassell from WOHA (Singapore)
- Olivia Shih and Yoshihito Kashiwagi from Facet Studio (Australia and Japan)
- Patrick Ness, design director of Cox Architecture (Melbourne)
- Jeff Walker, director of JPW (Sydney)
- Stephen Long, director of Architectus (Brisbane)
- Abbie Galvin, principal of BVN (Sydney)
The group of speakers is intended to reflect the diversity of cities and countries in the Asia Pacific region, and the breadth of its architecture. Each will address the way different communities are responding to the demands of the future.

The two-week long 2016 Asia Pacific Architecture Forum will bring together leading architects from across the region and will involve a series of events, installations, lectures and workshops.
The Asia Pacific Architecture Forum is a collaboration between founding partners Architecture Media and State Library of Queensland; presenting partners Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, BVN and the Museum of Brisbane; event partners University of Queensland School of Architecture, Australian Institute of Architects, Artisan and the Australian High Commission Singapore; and is presented in association with The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) – The 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art and Maison&Objet Asia.
