New entry doors from Axolotl
Entry doors, the first part of a house visitors interact with, set the tone and establish the character of the house. A new collection of doors from Axolotl provides a variety of unusual options for entries.
The Geometric door was designed by Studio Blue Architecture. Made from a solid-core door that has been routered, it was coated in a Treasury Bronze cast and inlaid with a mirrored stainless steel.
Westpac by Tanner Architects is a five-by-three-metre door made from aluminium and coated in a Bronze Florentine cast. It was designed for the Westpac refurbishment in George Street, Sydney, to match the existing bronze within the building and in the heritage area around Martin Place.
Designed by interior designer Danny Glavan, the Gauze door is also constructed from a solid-core door that has been carved with a gauze pattern and infilled with custom pink-coloured paint over a graphite base.
The Pewter door was designed by Vanessa Amisano in conjunction with Axolotl. Pewter in various textures was applied to the door, which was then sandblasted for added effect.
Artist Matt Long designed the Rust and Graphite door for a private residence in the Kangaroo Valley. Rust panels were applied to a solid core door that was coated in graphite, and the exposed fixings were allowed to become features.
Other doors in the collection include the Viper door and the Shiver door, both designed by Axolotl.
All the designs were developed in consultation with clients, allowing them to maintain ownership over the process.
