Call for proposals: Installation at the Asia Pacific Design Lounge

The State Library of Queensland is seeking proposals to create the inaugural twelve-month installation at the Asia Pacific Design Library.

The installation should explore the future of one of the following key themes, as well as reflect on how it is used to foster connections between Australia and the Asia-Pacific region:

  • Better living: products and services that sustain and improve quality of life
  • Communication: graphic design, visual communication, editorial design, typography, digital and web-based design
  • Design thinking: history, theory, criticism, education and practice of design and the value of design in business and innovation
  • Fashion: styles, trends, textiles, materials and sustainability in fashion
  • Public places: design disciplines associated with the public realm

The installation should also include an interactive element to engage audiences. As well, the chosen designer will be required to develop a workshop to coincide with the unveiling of the installation.

The successful applicant will receive a $5000 honorarium and up to $2000 to cover the cost of the installation. Travel and accommodation expenses will also be covered. Submissions close 5pm, 6 March 2015. Further details and submission requirements here.
