The UK-based association was formed in 1965 and has 34 member nations. It has played an important role in fostering networks between architects in Commonwealth countries.

The celebration will run from 15 to 18 June 2015, and will involve a council meeting, a general assembly with all the members as well as the summit. The Secretary General of the Commonwealth will be in attendance, and the Prince of Wales will make a video contribution to the event.

The summit on Designing City Resilience will focus on how better cities can be made by examining design and construction, development and infrastructure, city leadership and governance, insurance and finance and the technology and communications of cities. Ideas and strategies about how to design cities that can cope with challenges such as climate change and mass urbanization will be shared.

The Royal Institute of British Architects is hosting the celebration.

The June event also coincides with the launch of a specialist listing web platform for architects from Commonwealth countries to develop an online network that lists their specializations. Architects from member countries will be encouraged to list their expertise and projects on the site to create a network.
