Dessein Furniture

Launched in August 2013, Dessein Furniture is a new Australian collaboration with the ethos of design quality, sustainability and affordability. Founder Michele Chow, an interior architecture graduate of Curtin University, WA, has brought together some fine Australian designers for the first collection, the TAP Range of casual furniture.

Sydney-based craftsmen Jon Goudler and Adam Goodrum, and Melbourne-based industrial designer Justin Hutchinson have each designed pieces of the series which is made in Thailand from rubberwood – an agricultural by-product of the manufature of latex.

Flow Dining Table by Justin Hutchinson comes in natural rubberwood or black, while the Flow Coffee Table and Side Table combines various colour options with the oak-like grain of rubberwood.

Spool Stool by Jon Goulder combines solid and moulded rubberwood sections in a natural, black or white finish, with options of red, blue or green legs. Plank Bench, also by Goulder uses two stand-alone Spool Stools as a base.

The stackable Para Chair by Adam Goodrum is made from moulded rubberwood in natural finish or black, armchair or no arms.

The other great thing about this range? It’s all available online from Dessein Furniture.
