Droga Architect in Residence

The Australian Institute of Architects announced a new international cultural outreach program to start in 2014 – the Droga Architect in Residence. Applications are invited from prominent architects based outside Australia, whose work contributes significantly to the built environment, with public and social benefits, and who exemplify excellence in their architectural design, research and practice.

The successful applicant will receive flights to and from Australia plus a stipend and will stay for two to three months at the award-winning Droga warehouse apartment by Durbach Block, courtesy of its owner, Daniel Droga.

In 1998, this pace-setting warehouse conversion in the old rag-trade district of Surry Hills won the Robin Boyd Award for Residential Architecture at the National Architecture Awards, and the Wilkinson Award for Residential Architecture at the NSW Architecture Awards.

The timing and duration of the residency is flexible and can be negotiated with the Institute. Online registrations for the residency opened Monday 16 September 2013 and close on Monday 14 October 2013. Details and registration here.
