Future Proofing Schools winners announced
Architectus has taken out the top prize in Melbourne School of Design’s Future Proofing Schools Design Ideas Competition.
The competition challenged entrants to re-imagine the way that relocatable teaching spaces should function in an effort to revolutionize the humble portable classroom. The complex brief outlined best international practices in education, prefabriacation, sustainable design and landscape integration.
Architectus’s winning entry proposed a computer app with a suite of modules to be selected and organized by each client group to suit their needs and location.
The winner of the tertiary student section of the competition, Anastasia Globa, developed a scheme that fully exploited the potential of computer aided prefabrication techniques.
Entries from students of the University of Melbourne explored an exciting variety of design approaches, from individual origami-like folding structures to urban scale learning bridges. Ayrine Kwan took out the top prize in the University of Melbourne Student Competition.
In a parallel competition for high school students, Dinel Meyepa, Jack Huynh, Olivia Baenziger, James McMillan and Minh Nguyen took out the top prize.
The awards ceremony and exhibition launch will be held on 12 December at 6 pm at the Wunderlich Gallery at the University of Melbourne.
