New Queensland Chapter President named

Conrad Gargett managing director Bruce Wolfe has been named as the new Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Chapter President.

Wolfe started in his position as the managing director at Conrad Gargett 17 years ago, and has played a key role in projects including the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital project and the masterplanning of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

“It is an honour to take up the position of president of the Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Chapter for the next two years. The role comes with significant responsibilities but also unique challenges and personal reward,” he said.

“Fostering awareness of the value of design, building respect for the architectural profession, and acknowledging the architects’ ability to contribute and lead industry is a passion that I intend to bring to the role of President.”

Wolfe praised the work of the outgoing Chapter President Richard Kirk.

“The institute serves to support members in their profession and to advocate on behalf of the profession. This is vital and always at the forefront of the efforts of elected representatives,” he said.

“I take over from Richard Kirk [who] has been doing a wonderful job in this advocacy role and I would hope to carry on the work that he has started.”
