Frost Design, in collaboration with artist Robert Foster of Fink & Co., has created a sculptural installation for ActewAGL’s tenth anniversary. The work is titled The Journey and is made of thirty-seven tusk-like forms that emerge through the polished concrete floor, transforming into light-filled shapes.

Nendo has designed the Pyggy Bank for Isetan Department Store’s Piggy Bank Collection as part of Tokyo Designers Week. Unravelling the history of the piggy bank, Nendo learned that the name “piggy” dates back to medieval Europe, when unused coins were saved in jars of reddish clay called “pygg.”

Büro North’s tree-like wayfinding project at a Falls Creek ski village in Victoria has been awarded an AGDA Distinction Award. The signage system helps visitors navigate the ski village, while discreetly merging with its environment.

Thinking Ergonomix has celebrated the opening of its new London showroom at 32 Clerkenwell Road with two launch events in October. The nights’ talks centred around Thinking Ergonomix’s use of considered materials such as 100 percent post-consumer recycled aluminium and expanded polypropylene.

Workshopped has opened its new retail concept store in Surry Hills, Sydney. The store, which was designed by Smart Design Studio and built by Inde Studio, will display and sell works by Australian designers such as Akira and Ueno Fukotoshi, Ben McCarthy, Tomek Archer and other award winners.

The 2011 Australian Interior Design Awards will be presented at Peninsula in Melbourne on 15 April 2011, coinciding with the Australian Institute of Architects conference and Designex. To purchase tickets to the awards dinner, go to australian interiordesignawards.com.

The 2011 Dulux Colour Awards, which supports and acknowledges designers and students in their use of colour, is celebrating its twenty-five-year anniversary. Two of the three judges are confirmed: Kerry Phelan, of Kerry Phelan Design Office; and Brian Zulaikha, founding partner of Tonkin Zulaikha Greer. The Dulux Colour Awards will be announced in Sydney on 30 March 2011.
