Herman Miller introduces a unique new collection of furniture for the healthcare sector designed not for the patients, but supporters of patients.
Research has shown that the presence of family members can improve patient communication, satisfaction and outcomes. To this end, Sorel Studio has designed The Palisade collection for the guests, family and friend of patients who contribute to the healing process through their support.
The collection consists of a sofa that converts into a sleeping surface; a stool designed to sit next to a hospital bed allowing eye-level contact between the patient and the guest; a mobile table legs that slide under the sofa; and intuitive storage.
The collection is versatile and suitable for a number of areas within the health system including waiting rooms, public areas, caregiver lounges and respite rooms.
Palisade was awarded Best of Show in Nightingale Awards at the 2014 Healthcare Design Conference in San Diego.
