The Queensland government has established a new design advisory panel to assist state and local governments on key projects. The government is calling for expressions of interest for panel members.
The new Queensland Urban Design and Places Panel will be responsible for providing advice on infrastructure, urban design and architecture projects, as well as sustainability and subtropical design.
“The Queensland Urban Design and Places Panel will build on the work of the former Board for Urban Places, which was ignored by the former government.” said Jackie Trad, Queensland’s deputy premier and minister for infrastructure, local government and planning.
The former Board for Urban Places members included architects from across Queensland and Australia: Brit Andresen, Richard Kirk, John Wardle, and Elizabeth Watson Brown.
“I would like to thank the previous board members for their past contributions and invite them to nominate when we call for nation-wide expressions of interest in coming days,” Trad said.
The panel will be chaired by Queensland’s government architect Malcolm Middleton.
