ULI announces winner of 2017 Urban Innovation Ideas competition

The Urban Land Institute (ULI) has revealed the winner of its 2016 Urban Innovation Ideas Competition titled Connecting Urban Precincts, which this year asked young designers for ideas to transform an area connecting Brisbane CBD and Fortitude Valley.

Urban designer Nick Stevenson, an associate director at Urbis, won the competition for his entry The City Stitch, which focuses on reconnecting people from all walks of life with nature in an urban ecosystem that includes subtropical gardens, co-working spaces, public plazas and commercial and residential towers.

The City Stitch porposes to transform the area formerly dominated by Centennial Place into an urban jungle that uses subtropical boulevards to create a sense of scale and identity.
