Allen Jack + Cottier and Koichi Takada among winners at Asia-Pacific Property Awards

Crown Group’s “vertical village,” V by Crown Group, in Parramatta has won a Five Star Award for best Residential High Rise Architecture at the 2016 Asia Pacific Property Awards.

Designed by Allen Jack + Cottier Architects with architect Koichi Takada, the tower encompasses 29 floors of residences with a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, along with five floors of retail space and dining facilities.

“Our objective was to design a building that goes beyond the ordinary – one that is not only strikingly beautiful but well conceived, balancing comfort and an unapologetic attention to detail,” Michael Heenan, principal of Allen Jack + Cottier, said.

The 26-storey V building is supported by four columns that are carefully placed among the archaeological remains of four 1790s convict huts. Also at the base of the structure is a retail podium intersected by an arcade that increases the permeability of the site and activates the street frontages.

The design includes modern aluminium-clad curtain walling, concealed balconies and a glazed exterior that mirrors the energy of the city’s commercial district below. Gardens located on three levels provide pockets of retreat and a rooftop garden offers views of Parramatta and its surrounds.

LSA Architects’ Curva House received a Five Star Award for Best Architecture Single Residence, and Zaher Architects’ Wategos Residence received a highly recommended for Architecture Single Residence. Wanda Ridong (Gold Coast) Development received a Best Mixed-Use Architecture Award for Jewel.
