Lower Hunter Urban Design Awards
The Lower Hunter Urban Design Awards were introduced through Newcastle City Council in 1975 to raise the bar for urban design in the city. Other councils joined in the 1990s to promote quality urban design throughout the greater area.
The award categories are:
- Excellence in civic design
- Small scale development
- Building heritage
- Landscape design
- Large scale development
- Residential, single and multiple
- Sustainable development
- Peoples’ choice
- Universal access
Entries need to be within either the Cessnock, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Newcastle or Port Stephens local government areas, completed in the last three years and visible from a public space.
