The Australian Institute of Architects’ 2014 National Architecture Conference will be at Perth Convention Centre, 8–10 May 2014.
Creative director team, Adam Haddow (SJB), Helen Norrie (University of Tasmania) and Sam Crawford (Sam Crawford Architects), have chosen the theme Making, taking inspiration from the process of making architecture, not merely its presentation as a finished product. In exploring the topic of making, the conference directors will look to the collaborative relationships and projects that lead to cultural change, or shift the context of architectural practice.
Making 2014 will explore four sub-themes: making culture, making life, making connections and making impact. Each session will be anchored by leading Australian practitioners: Andrew Burns (making culture), Elizabeth Watson-Brown (making life), Emma Williamson (making connections), Timothy Horton (making impact), who will be joined by a more than a dozen international speakers.
