Speakers (L–R from top): Richard Leplastrier, Lene Tranberg. John Wardle, Juhani Pallasmaa.

The seven-day workshop, inspired by Utzon’s sense of the ‘deep site’, will explore the complex cultural, socio-political and architectural context of Tasmania. Lene Tranberg, Juhani Pallasmaa, Richard Leplastrier and John Wardle, will guide participants through an area of deep cultural significance in Australia.

The Workshop will encompass A Weekend Away with Tasmanian Architectural Narratives where conversation will include local Tasmanian architects, authors, philosophers, poets and artists on issues surrounding architecture in an island context. This is an opportunity to experience a very rare event, and to engage in an appreciation of Jørn Utzon’s understanding of the deep site.

Archipelago follows immediately after the Utzon Symposium in Sydney.
