Emergency Shelter Exhibition
Twelve Queensland design studios are participating in a Brisbane exhibition of full-scale temporary housing prototypes: Architectus, Arkhefield, Built Environment Collective, Conrad Gargett, Donovan Hill, Jackson Teece, Neylan Architecture, PDT Architects, Riddel Architecture, Tonic, TVS Partnership and Woods Bagot.
Establishing this national exhibition series in response to the string of natural disasters over the past few years, curator Jun Sakaguchi says: “The exhibition is to propose shelters that could not only protect people from rain and other elements in emergency situations, but also to provide a space to feel secure and comfortable in a disastrous environment. This is fundamental to the recovery process.”
Details of the Brisbane Emergency Shelter Exhibition, as well as the Sydney (2011) and Melbourne (2013) exhibitions are on the website.
