The Melbourne School of Design’s end-of-year student show, MSDx, opens on 17 November, showcasing the imagination and new narratives of the MSD’s students.
The Melbourne School of Design will be transformed into a multi-floor gallery featuring more than 400 pieces of studio work, including models, drawings and plans.
The annual exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate the advanced and creative work from across the Melbourne School of Design.
Alan Pert, director of the Melbourne School of Design, said, “We are framing design not simply as a collection of professions, disciplines or techniques, but as a vantage on the world from which things can be seen and achieved.”
He continued: “Our studios frame problems and test solutions from different perspectives and they are as much about the complex systems of the city as they will be about resolving things at a building scale and a human scale.”
The exhibition is split into three sections: Oculus, Inflection and MSDx Design Thesis.
Oculus
Level 4
Oculus presents the work of PhD candidates conducting research in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Design and Construction. Our research students work out on the frontier of knowledge in these fields. Oculus depicts their inspiration and visionary apprehension of our future built environments.
Inflection

Melbourne School of Design student journal, Inflection, will be exhibiting at MSDx in the Lovell Chen Lounge (Level 2, MSD Building). Read more about Inflection here.
