Heide Museum of Modern Art presents Lehte II, a site-specific performance by Jude Walton for dance, piano and archival film that responds to the architecture of the iconic modernist building Heide II.
In 1963 Heide founders John and Sunday Reed commissioned McGlashan and Everist to design a house-gallery for their growing art collection. Known as Heide II, it is now recognized as one of Victoria’s most influential modernist buildings. Jude Walton re-imagines this beautiful building as a performance, taking its physical materials and dimensions and transforming them into scores for piano and dancers. The sounds and movements within the empty Heide II are dependent on the building’s unique acoustics and spaces, and what they evoke in the listener–viewer.
