World Architecture Day 2015

The International Union of Architects (UIA) has themed this year’s World Architecture Day “Architecture, Building, Climate Commitments and Solutions.”

The day focuses on the international climate change negotiations that will take place in Paris from 30 November to 11 December, which the UIA will participate in with other regional and national architecture organizations from around the world. The organizations will highlight how architecture, design and town planning play an effective role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

“UIA members, working bodies and partners will mobilize on 5 October to promote actions and solutions that apply the enormous power of architecture and urban design in coping with global climate change, one of the greatest challenges of our time,” a statement on the organization’s website said.

The Australian Institute of Architects will also be launching a campaign called Where I’d Like to on World Architecture Day. The campaign aims to promote the value of architecture to the wider community.
