What are the triggers, the risk factors and early warning signs that could assist the profession to better support its own through periods of mental illness? Does existing research suggest any correlation between the triggers and risk factors of mental illness, and any particular part of architectural practice?
The NSW Architects Registration Board has funded a literature review, and put the following questions to University of Sydney adjunct professor John Mendoza, former chair of the National Advisory Council on Mental Health, and associate professor Lee Stickells, Head of Architecture at the University of Sydney:
- What research currently exists to indicate the prevalence or incidence of mental illness in the sector?
- What research currently exists to indicate the triggers, risk factors and early warning signs that could assist the sector to better support those through periods of mental illness?
- Does existing research suggest any correlation between the triggers and risk factors of mental illness, and any particular part of the sector?
The findings of the research will be released at this event, which will include a panel discussion between industry figures including professor Ian Hickie and professor John Mendoza, both from the University of Sydney.
Partners of this event are BVN (event partner) and Architecture Media (media partner).
