Two heads are better than one. In creative practice, the old adage couldn’t be more true. Two iconic Melbourne design duo come together on Wednesday 30 July to explore the chemistry behind their creative partnerships.
Ben Edwards and Juliette Moore (Edwards Moore) founded their architecture and design practice in 2009. In just a few short years, their highly imaginative and somethimes experimental designs have been publicised around the world including bubble-inspired Australian flagship store for Brazilian shoe brand Melissa, and an abract landscape created by Swisse marquee at 2012 Melbourne Cup carnival. Their approach is to develop designs through creative exploration, making, testing and experimenting to the boundaries.
Herbert & Mason is a partnership between Matthew Herbert and Lucinda Mason which formed in 2005. Both are architecture graduates of RMIT University and both have also studied in Denmark. The studio has a number of successful retail and hospitality projects under its belt including The Association in London, Reuben Hills in Sydney and several Ksubi stores in Melbourne. The pair draw inspiration from the aims and function of each project teasing out the ideas and thinking outside the square.
This is the ninth presentation of Design Institute of Australia’s Top 10x10 series.
