Don Woolard is an Australian architect (partly trained in the United States) who lectured at the University of Queensland with expertise in climate-responsive design. He used student labour to build Winterwood and the systemized nature of the layout meant the steel frame was quickly built over a six-week period. Don owned the house until it was sold to the current owners in 1982.
