2021 ACT Architecture Awards

A house that balances the clients’ cultural heritage and sense of place has been unanimously awarded the Canberra Medallion at the 2021 ACT Architecture Awards.

House for Hiroko by Anthony Knobel Architect not only took home the ACT chapter’s highest honour, it also received the Malcolm Moir and Heather Sutherland Award for Residential Architecture - Houses (New).

“House for Hiroko is a delightful and modest response to a couple’s life-long ambition to commission a home that celebrates and encapsulates a culturally rich life lived abroad,” said the jury.

The ACT Architecture Awards were announced by the Australian Institute of Architects via a livestream on 4 June.

Winners of awards and named awards will progress to the National Architecture Awards, to be announced in November.
