German furniture manufacturer Wilkhahn has invested ten years of research into its In chair, which is designed around principals of “motion-based seating” – seating that encourages the support and stimulation of muscles and joints through its high degree of flexibility.
The In chair allows the body to maintain its centre of gravity while encouraging a natural range of three-dimensional motion. The unitary seat and back construction has different levels of elasticity to help support the body. It’s also connected with the swivel arms, both of which can be moved separately, while its backrest cover is made from a specially developed form-fit knit, produced under computer-controlled conditions, with different thicknesses and zones to offer the body support.
