The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) has announced its new board of directors, with three women among the five board members elected. The election drew significant interest from members, with fourteen candidates nominating for the five positions.
The newly elected board includes:
· Angus Bruce, Head of Landscape Architecture, Hassell
· Barbara Schaffer, Principal Landscape Architect, Office of the NSW Government Architect
· Linda Corkery, Associate Professor – Landscape Architecture, Faculty Built Environment UNSW
· Sara Padgett Kjaersgaard, Lecturer – Landscape Architecture, Faculty Built Environment UNSW
· Shaun Walsh, Manager City Parklands, South Bank Parklands and Roma Street Parkland
The new board will be officially endorsed at AILA’s Annual General Meeting to be held at the International Festival of Landscape Architecture in Canberra on 28 October 2016. The roles of President and Vice President will also be decided at this meeting.
“I have been proud to lead the current board, who have been committed and passionate in their dedication to the profession,” said outgoing national president Daniel Bennett.
The 2016 International Festival of Landscape Architecture: Not In My Backyard, directed by Professor Richard Weller, is expected to be the largest gathering of landscape architects ever in Australia with all tickets now sold out.
