Architects’ registration examinations suspended

The Architects Accreditation Council of Australia will suspend its administering of the National Examination Paper until August in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The National Examination Paper is part two of a three-part process to registration for Australian architects. The next sitting of the test was scheduled for 21 April. All candidates enrolled to take the test on this date will instead be registered to take the test on 18 August.

The three-part Architectural Practice Examination is used by all Australian state and territory architect registration boards as the national examination in architectural practice that is used to determine eligibility for registration as an architect.

The AACA made the decision in light of the government-mandated restriction on gatherings of 500 people or more, which the AACA believes is likely to be tightened further in coming weeks.

From 2018 the tests are now administered digitally, although candidates still need to attend the test physically to adhere to examination conditions.

Updates are available from the AACA and the architects registration boards in each state and territory.
