Artichoke 71 preview

The latest issue of Artichoke has arrived, and it is a special issue in more ways than one. We began production of the issue from the office, but, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, sent it off to print from our home dining tables. In my seven years as editor, it was in many ways the most difficult issue to put together, but seeing the issue now complete, it is one I’m incredibly proud of, particularly for how it shines a light on the Australian Interior Design Awards winners, commendations and shortlist. Now more than ever is an opportune time to reflect on the incredible quality of design being produced by this country’s designers, and this issue celebrates that through our coverage of the awards. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our awards night this year, but we brought the celebrations online via Facebook Live, and this issue is a record of the innovative and talented designers who conceived inspiring projects over the past year.

While we couldn’t celebrate in person, I look forward to seeing you all when life gets back to normal, shaking your hand and having an overdue celebratory drink.
