Australians on top of design world

Australian design professionals Joanne Cys and Brandon Gien have recently been elected to prominent positions on international design bodies.

Joanne Cys LFDIA, the immediate past president of the DIA, has just been elected to the board of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI).

“My role on the IFI board will be to continue the work of IFI’s Design Frontiers: Interiors Entity (DFIE) project, which explores the value, relevance, responsibility and identity of interior architecture/design,” says Cys.

Brandon Gien FDIA has just been named president-elect of Icsid (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design). He will take on the role of Icsid president in 2013.

Gien is currently managing director of Good Design Australia and chair of the Australian International Design Awards.

He is the first Australian candidate to be chosen as Icsid president, and says that his election to the position will further elevate Australian design internationally.
