In December 2011, Living Edge hosted the Australian launch of BassamFellows at its Sydney and Melbourne showrooms.
Craig Bassam and Scott Fellows, the founders of the US-based design company, attended both events where they shared their insights into the aspirations and origins of pieces like the Tractor Stool, Day Bed and Leather Desk.
The Tractor Stool is made using traditional wood-turning techniques and is hand finished. The Day Bed is a slender, flexible piece made from solid wood and hand-selected hide. It can be used as a daybed or as seating. The simple Leather Desk captures the elegance of a bygone era and features a leather top that is cut from a single hide and inset into the frame. These pieces were on display at the launch, along with others including the Mantis Chair, Tray tables and the Upholstery series sofa and armchairs.
Australian-born designer Bassam and creative director Fellows have together created a design company known for high-quality, contemporary, hand-crafted furniture. The first BassamFellows signature furniture collection debuted at the 2003 Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. Since then, the BassamFellows collection has gained an international following.
