BD Barcelona Design products are now available from Living Edge in Australia. The company was founded in Spain in 1972, and its collections consist of iconic pieces from both contemporary and iconic names of the past, including Salvador Dali and Antoni Gaudi.
Key pieces include Konstantin Grcic’s Table B and products from Jaime Hayon’s Showtime series.
Table B by Konstantin Grcic, winner of the 2011 Red Dot Best of the Best Design Award, is simple and technical. Inspired by classic pieces from the BD Barcelona collection, Grcic developed a tabletop of extruded aluminium with a minimal profile that comes in lengths of up to 500 cm. Table B is available in various finishes, and with three different sets of legs, and is suitable for indoor and outdoor areas. Its apparent simplicity belies the complex and highly engineered technical development of the piece. The result is a highly crafted table with all the identifiable characteristics of Grcic’s work.
The Showtime series by Jaime Hayon is inspired by classic MGM musicals and explores the contrast between the external and internal. The collection uses innovative material combinations, such as plastic and leather, and a combination of organic forms and classical details is key to the collection’s development. It finds ways of combining things that are not supposed to match and enables them to coexist in elegance.
