In a fringe event aligned with the 2013 National Architecture Conference (Material), this year’s CINECITY Architectural Film Project invites you to make and submit a 60-second film that explores – in architectural terms – the relationships between the material and immaterial, the real and imaginary.
Louise Mackenzie (founder) and spatial artist Sarah Breen Lovett will co-curate each of the judge’s top three films for screening at Federation Square, Melbourne, on 31 May at 6.30 pm.
Film submissions can specifically draw inspiration from one of the speakers at this year’s conference or judges (below) of the 2013 competition. Esteemed members of the judging panel include New York-based architect Bernard Tschumi, best known for his interdisciplinary enquiry into the relationship between film and architecture, along with:
- Michael Tawa (University of Sydney)
- Shelley Penn (national president, Australian Institute of Architects)
- Jane Rendell (Academic, London)
- Eduardo Kairuz (Architect / Film maker, Melbourne)
- Ricarda Vidal (Academic / Betting on Shorts, London)
- Richard Sowada (Head of Film Programs ACMI, Melbourne)
CINECITY Architectural Film Project was established in 2009, and is run collaboratively in Melbourne and Sydney by architects and film makers.
Submissions close 30 April 2013. Enter or read more about the project on the blogspot.
