The public are invited to vote for their favourite projects in the Australian Institute of Architects’ 2020 NSW Country Division Architecture Awards.
All 42 projects submitted to awards are eligible for the People’s Choice accolade.
The projects hail from all over country NSW, from the Northern Rivers, Central NSW and even Lord Howe Island.
The jury will consider projects submitted into 11 categories, including new house, heritage, commercial and public architecture. There are also two categories unique to the NSW Country Division – affordable housing and “vision.”
“Responding to the many different environmental challenges and lifestyles across our vast state – from mountains to coast, riverlands to bush – regional architects need to have a deep understanding of place,” said awards jury chair Nicholas Brown. “The quality and range of entries in this year’s awards represent that understanding.”
NSW chapter president Kathlyn Loseby added, “The contribution regional architects make to sustainability, place and local communities cannot be underestimated, especially in such challenging times for our climate and wellbeing.”
Winners will be announced in late October in a livestreamed presentation hosted by the NSW chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects.
