To welcome design brand VIPP to Australia, Cult held events in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Chief designer Morten Bo Jensen shared the VIPP story – and it all started with its iconic steel, cylinder pedal bin, which was designed for the founder’s wife’s hair salon in the 1930s. Now, the brand offers a collection of kitchen and bathroom concepts, as well as other associated furniture, lighting and accessories.
VIPP distinguishes itself in the market by only making one design in each product category with “a strong belief in fewer but better products” and perfecting the detailing and functionality of the existing range. For example, there is only one type of kitchen island unit, one type of desk lamp and one set of salt and pepper shakers. Reflecting the design quality that Denmark is famous for, VIPP opts for timelessness over trends.
Bo Jensen also shared the construction of the VIPP Shelter, completed in 2014. A fully functioning pre-fabricated house located in the Swedish forest, the steel and glass pavilion showcases the full VIPP offering. The shelter is available for guests to book as part of the new VIPP Hotels concept, also launched this month.
VIPP is available exclusively in Australia from Cult.
