DIA WA award winners announced in Perth

Interior and product designers were awarded in Perth for outstanding creations in professional and student categories.

Western Australia’s leading designers were recognized at the 2011 Design Institute of Australia WA Awards, held on Friday 2 September 2011 at the WA Museum Hackett Hall foyer, in James Street Mall, Perth. Design practitioners and students were presented with twenty-one awards in the categories of interior spaces (including retail, residential, corporate, public/institutional and hospitality) and product design (industrial design and furniture design). An exhibition of all 2011 entries was on display from 2 September to 16 September 2011 at the same venue.

Commendation: La Lola Trattoria by Mata Design Studio; Sentinel Bar & Grill by Taylor Robinson; Boulevard Hotel by Taylor Robinson.

Interior Spaces – Professional – Residential

Award of Merit: Brisbane Street Additions by RAD Architecture.
Commendation: Florida Beach House by Iredale Pedersen Hook Architects.

Commendation: one40william by Hassell; Eni Australia by Hassell; Euroz by Geyer.

Interior Spaces – Student – Public/Institutional

Commendation: Growth by Jack Tooley of Curtin University.

Interior Spaces – Student – Hospitality

Commendation: Fremantle Prison Backpackers Accommodation by Jason McLeod of Curtin University.

Interior Spaces – Student – Retail

Award of Merit: Evolve Health by Atti Petrova of Central Institute of Technology.

Product Design – Professional – Industrial Design
