Haymes Paint celebrates its 80th birthday with the launch of its Colour Through the Decades palette.
The palette includes eight suites of colours inspired by the the decades from 1940s to 2010s.
The 40s palette features sentimental tones inspired by traditional furniture, floral upholstery, prudent colours. It includes Eggshell, Wilderness, Poppy Red, Posey Green and Blue Aster.
The 50s palette refers to an age of optimism in the decade with a set pastel colours including Face Powder, Spearmint, Strawberry Fields, Intrigue and Sapphire.
In the 60s palette psychedelic prints and bold colours were strong. Haymes Paints’ Tropical Mist, Danish Blue, Bright Orange, Grape Shadow and Patrician Purple have been selected to bring the decade to life.
The 70s was known as the “Me Decade” and this is reflected in a palette which features mellow, earthy tones that connect with nature including Stoneware, Victorian Brown, Amber Flame, Rich Red and Cheddar.
In the 80s, post modernist dominated the design circles, and the Memphis Group was particularly influential. The palette of colours including Ultimate Seamless Flooring Ash Grey, Rhapsody, Texas Yellow, Forest Shade and Raspberry Sorbet are reminiscent of the primary colours of the movement.
Soft minimalist colours were the hallmarks of the 90s. Haymes Paints’ palette of City Stone, Tiffany, Worn White, Tundra Earth and Cherish create the feeling of zen.
The naughties was all about luxurious indoor/outdoor living spaces. The colours of White on White, Indian Sand, Retreat, Copper and Oak Buff 1 create a hazy summer feel.
Finally, in the 2010, technology is king. A palette of neutrals create a blank canvas onto which to imprint an individual style, with the colours Element, Minimalist 5, Slush, Minimalist 1 and Intuition.
