When complete, Forté will be Australia’s first high-rise apartment building built using cross-laminated timber. It is also aspiring to be the first 5 Star Green Star As Built residential building in Australia.

Designed and built by Lend Lease, Forté is situated in Melbourne’s Victoria Harbour and will be ten storeys high, offering twenty-three residential apartments and four town houses.

The cross-laminated timber panels used in the construciton have the equivalent structural integrity of a traditional concrete frame. The material has good insulation properties, and the CO2 emissions during construction will be reduced by 1,400 tonnes, compared to a concrete and steel build.

Forté is planned for completion in August 2012.
