Bates Smart has transformed a 1980s building in Richmond into a contemporary furniture and lighting showroom for Living Edge.
The glass-encased showroom blurs the boundaries between inside and out. The design pares back the original building to its bones and uses a refined, minimal material palette of natural, neutral timber and brick as well as a blackened ceiling, exposed beams and structural columns.
The design reflects Living Edge’s brand values of timelessness, authenticity, and sustainable design.
“The guiding principle throughout the design was to create a showroom that is reflective of Living Edge and its high-calibre brands. These brands provided much inspiration and are used throughout the design where possible,” said Grant Filipoff, associate director and principal interior designer at Bates Smart.
The showroom features furniture and lighting from Living Edge’s portfolio of brands including Herman Miller, Walter Knoll, Bassam Fellows, Muuto and Tom Dixon.
Located on Church Street in Richmond, Living Edge’s new Melbourne flagship is accessible and caters to commercial designers, architects and design enthusiasts.
