Over fifty public and heritage buildings, design studios and city destinations open their doors to the public on 3–4 November for the inaugural Open House Perth. Among them are 125 St George’s Terrace (Perth’s newest skyscraper), the award-winning Gordon Stephenson House, Perth Arena, Parliament House, Perth Concert Hall and the State Theatre Centre of WA. Some of the city’s key design practices including Geyer, Iredale Pederson and Hook, Hassell, and Woodhead, will also open their studios to the public with guided tours and talks.
Associated events happening around the city, include:
- In My Beginning is My End exhibition (bringing together Western Australian artist Jon Tarry and Ashton Raggatt McDougall (ARM)) – Tarry will exhibit aspects of his fascination with the demolition of the old Perth Entertainment Centre, and ARM will illustrate the ideas behind its design for the new Perth Arena
- Lomovember annual amateur photography exhibition, this year held at One40William, raising funds for the Movember Foundation
- Speaker series with Kieran Wong (Coda), Coniglio Ainsworth (Coniglio Ainsworth Architects), Andrew Low (Hassell), Richard Offen (Heritage Perth), Steve Woodland (WA Government Architect) and Tim Wright (WrightFeldhusen)
- Guided walking tours of city landmarks including Central Park Rooftop and Council House.
