Sacred Spaces, a weekly television program about architecture, building and urban planning, will air its ninth season on Channel 31 in March 2015.
Each week, the twelve-minute program speaks with an architect or builder about their favourite building, structure or space. In past series, the program has interviewed the likes of former Victorian planning minister Justin Madden on his ‘sacred space’ the State Library of Victoria, as well as architect Daryl Jackson on Robin Boyd’s Walsh Street House.
Locally produced in Melbourne, the program will feature its first interstate building in the show’s history. The South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) by Woods Bagot will feature in the new series alongside the recently completed Melbourne School of Design by John Wardle and NADAAA, the multi-award-winning Dallas Brooks Community Primary School by McBride Charles Ryan, the Tip Top Complex by Rothelowman, RMIT’s micro nano research building, and the Old Treasury building.
The show’s producer and London-expat Glen Noble says he was inspired to create the program by the architectural variety of Melbourne compared with his home town. The show, which has been on air since 2011, will broadcast its 100th episode later in 2015.
