Shortlist revealed: 2017 Australian Interior Design Awards

The shortlisted projects in contention for the 2017 Australian Interior Design Awards have been announced. This year, a record-breaking 525 entries were received, including projects from all Australian states and territories and international projects by Australian designers. From these entries, 177 have been shortlisted across the seven primary categories.

Now in its 14th year, the Australian Interior Design Awards, a partnership between the Design Institute of Australia and Architecture Media’s Artichoke magazine, is a leading awards program that recognizes and celebrates interior design excellence in the categories of Retail Design, Hospitality Design, Workplace Design, Public Design, Installation Design, Residential Design and Residential Decoration.

Winners of these categories will be announced at a gala dinner event on Friday 9 June 2017 at The Glasshouse in Melbourne, along with recipients of other awards including the Premier Award for Australian Interior Design, Sustainability Advancement Award, Best of State Awards for Commercial Design and Residential Design, the Emerging Interior Design Practice Award, Best International Design and the Award for Interior Design Impact.

On the 2017 jury for the Awards for Australian Interior Design are Sonda Banney (Architectus), Elizabeth Carpenter (FJMT Studio), Amanda Stanaway (Woods Bagot), Mark Simpson (DesignOffice), Nick Travers (Techne Architecture + Interior Design), Tony Chenchow (Chenchow Little), Sophia Leopardi (Williams Burton Leopardi) and Fiona Lynch (Fiona Lynch), with jury convenor Joanne Cys (University of South Australia).
