Shortlist revealed: 2017 Houses Awards

The Houses Awards celebrates Australia’s best residential projects in nine categories. Now in its seventh year, the program has become one of the country’s most sought-after accolades, with 448 entries submitted in 2017 – five percent more than the previous year.

This year, a total of 169 projects and seven emerging architecture practices were shortlisted. “The shortlisted projects reflect the ways Australian architects have responded to the diverse contexts and constraints from tight urban sites to apartment fitouts and stand-alone pavilions in the landscape,” said Katelin Butler, editor of Houses magazine and Houses Awards jury chair.

The awards will be presented in Melbourne at the NGV International on Friday 4 August, following the 2017 Housing Futures symposium. Each category attracts a cash prize of $1,000. The awards will culminate in the announcement of Australian House of the Year, the winner of which will receive $5,000.
