2015 NZIA Conference

The 2015 New Zealand Architecture will be held the Viaduct Events Centre on Auckland’s reinvigorated waterfront 10-13 February. Themed In:Situ, the conference is curated around ideas of context in all its forms from physical to intellectual, geographical, typological, social and historical.

The line up local and international speakers will each explore the forces and circumstances that influence architects’ work. Local speakers are yet to be confirmed but the trans-Tasman contingent is made up Andrew Maynard, former national president of Australian Institute of Architects Shelley Penn, and 2014 Gold Medallists Phil Harris and Adrian Welke of Troppo Architects.

International speakers include:

  • Sheila O’Donnell & John Tuomey (Ireland)
  • Sam Jacob (UK)
  • Sou Fujimoto (Japan)
  • Ana Vélez (Colombia)
  • Sarah Whiting (USA)
  • Vo Trong Nghia (Vietnam)

The conference also includes a host of other events including exhibitions, a Pecha Kucha night as well as talks on unconventional practice, housing and the inverse perspectives of NZ architects working internationally and vice versa.
