2018 Australian Urban Design Conference

The Centre for Universal Design and the Council on the Ageing will present the third biennial Australian Universal Design Conference in Brisbane.

The conference was first held in 2014 and again in 2016. The theme for the 2018 conference is “Home and away: Creating inclusion everywhere” and will focus on the housing and tourism sectors.

The conference will spotlight inclusive and universal design in the built environment and open spaces, covering topics such as future transport, house and home, inclusive tourism and the economics of inclusion.

The speakers include architect Allen Kong, director of Allen Kong Architects, who has built an international reputation for designing sustainable, social architecture; Jill Franz, a professor of special design at the School of Design, Creative Industries Faculty, Queensland University of Technology; Kate Tregloan, an architect and researcher of housing design for people with disability; Margaret Ward, originally an architect and the current convenor of the Australian Network for Universal Housing Design and advocate of social inclusion, housing and disability.
