The NGV Australia is hosting the first retrospective exhibition of Broached Commissions, an Australian limited-edition design production house.
The exhibition will include never-before-seen work by Los Angeles-based Korean artist Mimi Jung’s and a brand new work from John Warwicker, design studio Tomato co-founder, which explores the historical evolution of typography.
Lucy McRae’s Prickly Lamp, covered in sixty thousand hand-dyed toothpicks,also features, along with Japanese flower artist Azuma Makoto’s investigation into the complex relationship between Australia and Asia in the mid-to-late 19thcentury with a highly technical take on the 19th century Wardian Case, a vessel used for transporting rare living plants.
Other designers featured include Charles Wilson, Trent Jansen, Adam Goodrum, Max Lamb, John Warwicker and Ma Yangsong.
