Kennedy Nolan: A View

A View, at the University of Melbourne’s Wunderlich Gallery, is a retrospective of the work of architecture practice Kennedy Nolan.

Kennedy Nolan Architects have developed a reputation as a design-focused practice with a distinctive approach to built form and a strong connection to site. The firm’s work benefits from a multidisciplinary approach to architecture. Graphics and sculpture inform and are incorporated into its work and the practice constantly explores the possibilities for colour and materials to generate architectural elements.

This exhibition features an expansive mural of black-and-white photographs of Kennedy Nolan’s built projects, a free-standing wall covered in luminous fabric and a low plinth-like wall displaying scale models of architectural walls. The installation reflects Kennedy Nolan’s investigation into the art of the wall and their interest in the making of architecture: materiality, tactility, porosity, luminosity and visuality.
