Dominik Holzer talk on BIM – Canberra

Dominik Holzer, design technology director at BVN Architecture, will present Beyond Software – Implementing BIM in Everyday Practice, a talk about the process and changes that architects are likely to experience when using Building Information Modelling (BIM).

BIM is an integrated process for exploring a project’s key physical and functional characteristics digitally before it is built, helping to deliver projects faster and more economically. BIM also allows designers to develop models that can efficiently provide a fully coordinated set of accurate and reliable conventional documents. By maintaining coordinated data and having an accurately detailed 3D model, the chance of errors existing in the shared design data is significantly decreased.

Beyond Software – Implementing BIM in Everyday Practice will give attendees a better understanding of the strategic adjustments needed to align their traditional work processes with the BIM realm. There will be a focus on the cultural implications of BIM use in everyday practice, and attendees will learn how to deal with other parties in relation to BIM implementations.

Holzer is chair of the BIM and IPD Steering Group of the Australian Institute of Architects and Consult Australia.

The event will be held from 1 pm to 3 pm and costs $50 for members or $75 for non members.

To register go to the Institute’s website.
